Pamoja means "Unity," so we like to think of ourselves as a FAMILY.

In August and January of each school year, Pamoja holds an interest meeting for new and old members. We discuss the theme for the upcoming semester show, while new members get to meet the executive board and the choreographers. In addition, choreographers perform a portion of their piece to help members decide which dances they would like to try.

Dancers: All styles of dance are welcome! There is no GPA, nor yearly dues requirement to be a member of Pamoja Dance Company. Also, no previous experience is necessary, as there are dances for beginners and dances for those who are technically trained. No new dancers are accepted after the first three weeks of practices.
Costumes for the show come from our prop closet and from our budget. If costumes for a particular dance are above the alloted amount, the company will purchase as much as possible and the difference will be split between the dancers. Costumes are usually very inexpensive, as we always order in bulk.

Choreographers: Any person interested in choreographing a dance must have been a member of Pamoja for at least one semester. The dance and song choice must be approved by the executive board, as our company does want to portray a positive image, with NO lude or obscene lyrics and/or movements. This is always a family show.
